As the Talent Acquisition and Development Specialist you will be responsible for helping to develop and execute a recruitment strategy that finds and attracts passionate, mission driven professionals to the FIRST team. This position will partner with hiring managers to understand their talent needs and then execute a recruitment and selection process that effectively identifies quality candidates by focusing on skills, competencies, qualifications and culture fit while also mitigating against implicit biases. Because we know it is not enough to get great people in the door, we are also looking for someone who loves to coach, train, and mentor staff to reach their full potential. You will help assess current talent needs, identify training opportunities to close skill gaps, and develop and deliver internal training to support the organization.

Reports to: Director, People and Organizational Development

Talent Acquisition (50-60%)

  • Develop and execute end-to-end talent acquisition strategies that attract top talent, ensure the quality of the candidate experience, and promote the FIRST brand and values
  • Implement effective sourcing methods to include passive sourcing, networking, college/university relationship building and other creative methods for attracting candidates
  • Manage full cycle recruitment selection and hiring process: Develop job postings, conduct screenings, evaluations and assessments to ensure skill and culture fit of candidates. Facilitate selection process, extend offers and initiate onboarding process. Ensure outstanding candidate experience by setting clear expectations, providing frequent communication and timely feedback
  • Manage onboarding program, ensuring that our processes, resources and orientation sets new hires up for success
  • Responsible for additional staffing requirements such as agency staffing, interns, contractors and consultants

Talent Development (20-30%)

  • Act as an internal consultant, helping managers to assess staff development needs and assist managers in identifying relevant resources and offerings to support individual and department training needs
  • Coordinate and assist in the delivery of organization-wide professional development and training offerings

Other (10-20%)

  • Support employee engagement initiatives such as annual employee engagement survey, employee recognition programs, performance management
  • Support team’s Human Resources and Organizational Development projects as needed

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience, with at least 3 years of experience in talent recruitment and acquisition
  • Experience leveraging applicant tracking systems, LinkedIn, social media and other recruitment tools to attract candidates, streamline processes and positively impact candidate experience
  • Proven experience recruiting and selecting quality candidates with a focus on pipeline development, passive sourcing, and diversity
  • Experience developing and delivering professional development resources and training
  • Excellent relationship building skills, customer service orientation and strong written and verbal communication skills

A plus if you have:

  • Experience tracking and analyzing data and recruitment metrics to drive sound decision making
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal employment/labor laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of the Southern NH/Boston area labor market and experience working in a nonprofit environment
  • Experience with other areas of people or talent operations such as employee relations, leaves of absence, benefits administration, workers’ compensation, etc.
