Program Coordinator, FIRST Tech Challenge

About this Role

Responsible for planning, scheduling, and implementing key projects for the FIRST Tech Challenge program; creative development of key program media such as manuals, training modules and other materials; identifying resource requirements and associated budgets; and implementation of all aspects of approved plans including managing relationships with other FIRST departments, FIRST Tech Challenge partners, teams, teachers and volunteers.

Essential Job Duties:

• Working with volunteer subject matter experts to develop and maintain program instruction and training manuals for volunteers, teams and Team Leaders

• Through collaborative efforts with other FIRST Tech Challenge colleagues, continually seek process improvement initiatives to enhance the experience of those involved in the FIRST Tech Challenge program

• Upon conclusion of the season, compiles data in analytic format and presents to leadership team to consider process improvement ideas that align with the organization's strategic plan

• Provides support for ad hoc team and partner requests for materials for their participation in conferences, presentations and local events

• Verifies volunteer tasks and job descriptions

• Develops project specifications, guidelines for quality standards, and complete formal documentation to roll projects out to the appropriate volunteer and team groups

• Act as liaison for the FRC, FLL and FIRST Place to oversee projects identified as integration opportunities for FIRST Tech Challenge

• Act as liaison to identified community based organizations for FIRST Tech Challenge, (e.g., Girls Scouts and Boys and Girls Clubs)

• Support diversity and inclusion initiatives for team recruitment and retention, to include the creation of resources, and providing real time assistance to coaches and mentors

• Travel to and work FIRST Tech Challenge tournaments and events as needed to observe best practices, and audit and monitor quality aspects of the event

• Provide training and technical and/or non-technical support for volunteers and teams

• Manage special projects within the FIRST Tech Challenge program on an ongoing basis

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience, with at least 3 years of experience in same or similar role
  • Experience handling multiple projects within time constraints
  • Experience editing and formatting training materials
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft® Office suite, (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, 365)
