The Volunteer Management Specialist provides direct support and oversight for the FIRST Robotics Competition volunteer coordinators and events.  This role works collaboratively in the development and implementation of cross-program volunteer initiatives while determining best practices and making recommendations for improvement in the areas of training, recruitment and oversight of volunteers in the field.

Reports to: Manager, Volunteer Systems and Training.  This role is located in Manchester, NH

 

The Details

  • Oversees the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Volunteer Coordinators for all events including onboarding and ongoing support
  • Works with Global Field Operations team to assign all FIRST Robotics Competition event Volunteer Coordinators & provide appropriate system access
  • Supports regional Volunteer Coordinators with recruiting efforts by providing training and resources and trouble shooting
  • Develops and executes in-season training efforts for Volunteer Coordinators including calls, webinars and on-line learning
  • Oversees the success of all FIRST Robotics Competition volunteers
  • Volunteer Resources Department liaison to FIRST Robotics Competition program staff
  • Supports FIRST Robotics Competition usage of Volunteer Registration and Management systems
  • Support, develop and expand working relationships with supporters and sponsors
  • Develop & propose budget allocations for all FIRST Robotics competition volunteer related expenses and projects
  • Oversight of FIRST Robotics Competition volunteer assignments and management of corporate volunteers at Championships
  • Develops recruitment and succession planning resources and training guidelines for FRC volunteer coordinators and works with programs to develop cross-program resources and best practices
  • Manages volunteer apparel program cycle including: selection, purchasing and logistics

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 2-4 years directly related work experience
  • Volunteer and/or non-profit experience
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Strong writing skills and ability to communicate across multiple platforms
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • FIRST experience a plus
  • Approximately 10% travel required
