About this Role

We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician who applies both learned electrical and technical knowledge to support the FIRST Robotics Competition Engineering team with activities for game & field electronics design, robot prototyping, configuration, trouble shooting, and inventory control.  The ideal candidate will have solid electrical knowledge as well as a skilled hand to efficiently wire, install, trouble-shoot and maintain electro-mechanical devices.  If you enjoy producing creative solutions to complex problems, have a healthy interest in electronics troubleshooting and integration, and enjoy collaboration and supporting your team members, this is the job for you.

Reports to: Manager, Electrical Engineering.  This role is located in Manchester, NH

The Details

  • Builds electro-mechanical devices in a prototype environment
  • Installs components and wire using crimping, cable harnessing, and/or hand soldering tools with minimal oversight or assembly procedures
  • Inspects existing assemblies for accuracy; and conducts tests and assessments to ensure conformance to specifications and functional performance. Troubleshooting and repairing when necessary.
  • Tests playing field electronics design for durability, ease of assembly, and ease of transport and packing
  • Writes technical documents to instruct the assembly, testing, and packing of playing field electronics
  • Maintains field electronics case content inventories
  • Inspects outgoing electronics shipments to ensure that all required items are present and correctly packaged
  • Installs software images on Windows based machines
  • Supports Kickoff, Regional and Championship events

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years directly related work experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in electronics troubleshooting and repair using multimeters, oscilloscopes, soldering irons, and hand tools
  • Experience reading electrical drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Experience with configuration and troubleshooting of devices used on Ethernet networks
